Hi! I’m Brooke- nice to meet you :)

I am originally from Bakersfield, CA…a then, small suburb of dirt, sun and oil. My journey as an artist began at infancy- often forgetting crayons in a sweltering car and drawing on anything I could find- dad’s recycled paperwork, cereal boxes, etc. My family moved to WA state when I was 13 and the only thing that kept me kind of sane was having a safe space for art. I discovered oil painting in high school- many thanks to my wonderful teacher at that time who introduced me to the medium and I haven’t put it down since. I even started a weekly art club with some other students where we organized figure drawings. I continued on to college and graduated with a BFA in oil painting. I wanted to be a professor and work with the next generation of artists, though after graduating, I decided not to continue that path. After many odd jobs, primarily pizza delivery and housekeeping, I was presented an opportunity to work in banking and a stable 9-5 was what I thought I needed after acquiring all that debt. I spent the next 7 years in the corporate trap, climbing the finance ladder (feeling very good about it at the time) and I eventually landed a successful career in affluent banking…(with an art degree, ha!). My partner and I then relocated from Seattle to NYC, and I got a job on Wall St so things were very new and exciting. I only lasted about a year until I said f*ck that- I had no sense of self and I had no grasp on my identity as an artist...or really at all for that matter. By this point I was pretty covered in tattoos- mostly on my upper arms, legs and torso where they could be easily covered up. I always loved the art of tattooing but didn’t allow myself to think I could pursue such a venture after college. Well, this was my breaking point and I realized I needed to allow myself to take a chance and go for it. I quit my job and asked for an apprenticeship at First Class Tattoos in Manhattan. Fast forward to today- Im proud to say that I am a full time tattoo artist and painting has again become a very big part of my life. I tattooed in NYC for a couple years and decided this year I am traveling and working all around the US! I am not sure where I will end up, but having the freedom and flexibility to explore has been so spiritually uplifting and inspiring. I am overflowing with gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside incredible artists all over, for all of the clients who have trusted me with their body art, purchased artwork and those who have supported my pursuit as an artist over the years, especially my life partner, Ben. Y’all are incredible <3

My favorite tattoos to do include psychedelic color, fineline, surreal elements, ornaments, flowers, symmetry.
